Sometimes it seems to me that there is a Grateful Dead lyric for every situation. As Tom Hanks in "You've Got Mail" said that "The Godfather" was an I Ching, I sometimes feel the same way about Dead lyrics.
Over the past few years of hanging out a DailyKos, I've made a comment here and there, sometimes snarky, sometimes not, quoting a Grateful Dead lyric.
So for fun, I've collected a few, and invite you all to share your own.

"Lately it occurs to me . . ."
I was learning to play Jack A Roe and thinking about the recent battle for marriage equality. When I sang the last couplet:
This couple they got married so well they did agree.

Oh why not you and me?
Seems to me to be the perfect argument for equal marriage.
The lyric

plays well on that issue as well as many others.
A while back I was listening to New Speedway Boogie
So many parts of that song seemed relevant to the struggle to get rid of Bush and turn the country around.
Spent a little time on the mountain

Things went down we don't understand
but I think in time we will
Other parts of the song seemed applicable to Obama's candidacy and first days in office, as kept assuring the country that the had all the bases covered.
I don't know but I been told

More recently, when Sarah Palin resigned, I thought of Beat It On Down the Line (actual song starts playing at 1:05)
