A few months ago, I wrote this diary. In it, I explained that Fair Districts Florida is trying to put two amendments on the ballot for next November's election which would curtail the ability of legislators to gerrymander districts for political gain.
We are now in the home stretch for getting those amendments on the ballot.
Today, I received an email update, shown below:
There are 3 polls showing 70% of Floridians will vote yes on our amendments. We have collected the 1,650,000 signatures we need to get on the ballot. We have three weeks to get the petitions handed in to be absolutely sure the state has enough time to process them, but we don't have enough money to hand in the entire batch.
We need to raise $25,000 online, fast.
Please. Give Every Penny You Can Afford.
Now! There is no limit to how much you can give.

If you can, please help out. Florida is among the worst offenders in gerrymandering, and both parties have engaged in it.
Just to be clear, this won't be the end of the fight, since we will still need to win next November. That 70% vote is is deceptive, since it requires a supermajority of 60% to amend the state constitution by ballot initiative, and you can be sure that its opponents will throw everything at it to keep the status quo. But for now, please help get this on the ballot.
