I realize that Kos needs to generate income, but I am very confused and dismayed as to what (if any) limits there are to which adverts will be accepted. I point to an ad currently running on the site today . . .
The ad depicting a long line of folks and starts saying "welcome to the DMV" and then goes on to claim that people would have to wait interminable hours and days on end to see a physician if HCR is realized.
It is sponsored by Patients First/Hands off Our Health Care -- a project of Americans For Prosperity . . . On Daily Kos. This site is accepting money from the ones who brought us the Teabaggers.
It strikes me as more than a little hypocritical to have diarists and Kos slamming this astroturf group that is out to kill HCR and then turn around and accept advertising on the site from the very same group. It seems to me to be an ethically tenuous position that erodes the credibility of this site.
It is one thing to accept diaries from those who would disagree with us and I actually feel it is a healthy thing to do, but it is quite another to accept money from those who are about the business of thwarting anything we are attempting to do to bring about a more progressive vision for our country.
So this leaves me again with the question of where is that line drawn? And where should it be drawn? If this site accepts money from AFP is that any different ethically then advertisers advertising on the Glenn Beck show? Is it not a de facto endorsement with the acceptance of dollars by Daily Kos of what the message is spewing? Just putting it out there because this really ticked me off this morning.
