We liberals are frequently accused of regarding Barack Obama as our "messiah." And recently, dozens of Kenyan birth certificates have turned up, purporting to show that our "messiah" was born not in a hospital in Honolulu, but in a manger in Kenya.
And now a surprising document has turned up for the original messiah, Jesus Christ, whose birthday we celebrate in a few weeks.
It is very, very hard indeed to believe that this document is authentic, yet it says right at the top that this is an "unquestionably authentic" birth certificate. And there are some details which indicate that it may in fact be contemporary to Jesus's time: for example, his birth place is shown as Nazareth, Palestine. In 1 BC, the area now known as Israel and the West Bank were a single political entity called "Palestine." So that detail of the birth certificate seems at first glance to be authentic
One of the oddest details is that Joseph, the father of Jesus Christ, was also Michael Jackson's father. This may explain some of Michael Jackson's obsession with Christ: he may have simply been trying to imitate an idolized older sibling. His messianic behavior may simply have been something which runs in the family.
