With President O'bama's decision tonight to increase troop strength in Afghanistan, pro-war and anti-war factions(along with some factions in between) here at DK have been going back and forth over this difficult foreign policy decision. Some of the comments and diaries have seemed to me to be over the top on both sides. It makes me wonder where people would have stood if alive during the United States involvement in WW2.
This is not an attempt to equate any current conflict with WW2. Nor is it an attempt to justify any one particular position. While I have my own personal positions on these matters, I really just think it would be interesting to find out who here would support our being engaged in what many would describe as "the Good War" and who wouldn't want to be involved in foreign entanglements. -It is my sincere hope that we can all come together at the end of the day and still work towards our common goals without bitterness. Perhaps we could learn something about ourselves as a community in the process.
