Barack Obama made a wise choice to deliver his order for escalation in Afghanistan before the martial grey columns of our young warriors at West Point, bringing our total force to 100,000 warriors in Afghanistan. What a stirring sight to see our Commander in Chief, on solemn raised podium, gazing out onto a sea of our brave and noble soldiers who will soon be at the front lines defending our freedom and liberty.
George Bush may have begun this practice of addressing exclusively military audiences at military installations, but tonight Barack Obama has shown us just how stirring such pageantry is when done properly with a riveting and transcendent leader.
And for what greater cause could such an historic speech and setting be directed than to uphold the very freedom and security of this great nation of ours? Obama, in the finest tradition of all great leaders, spoke plainly of the cancer – yes, he used that word - that is al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan. Al Qaeda: the devils that attacked our homeland on September 11, 2001 and took so many of our innocent lives, and the Taliban, who have outlawed even music in their psychopathic and satanic reign in Afghanistan.
With rededicated fervor and will, and a steady hand and gaze far beyond both his years and his months in office, Obama made clear that we will not give one inch, we will not cower, we will not weaken. We will increase our relentless push to root out this cancer of al Qaeda and kill it wherever we shall find it.
I was more proud of my President and my country than I have ever been, seeing this majestic sea of military might and youthful vigor in rapt and solemn attention. And at the podium, a youthful philosopher-king framed by the generals and side men who, together with him, will lead this great nation to lasting victory.
Obama became more than a President tonight; he became Our Leader. It is time now to put aside our petty differences and bickering, and join our commander and military in killing every last one of these al Qaeda devils.
