UPDATE - I'll be around to answer any questions you might have. Fire away!
The past few weeks and days have been nothing short of incredible.
Beginning with the introduction of a bold tv ad that generated overwhelming local and national attention (with an astounding 65k totals views on youtube); a debate in which every major candidate except me got a critical public safety question wrong; and the unveiling of my detailed policy road map for making New Orleans Safe Again. Our campaign to bring real change to New Orleans continues to build momentum at just the right time.
Next week our campaign begins a major national and local fundraising push as we work to secure the resources we will need to win a spot in the February 6th runoff.
To find where we'll be, join me on the flip side...
If you live or know anyone who lives in the Chicago, D.C., Philadelphia or New York City area that wants to see a true progressive elected Mayor of New Orleans, I hope you'll join me.
In a race where no other candidate has produced a single solution to the problems facing our city, I've introduced 5 major changes that I would enact in my first 5 days in office. These reforms would make our city safer, more prosperous, less corrupt, more fiscally responsible and jump-start the rebuilding of our neighborhoods.
I've also staked my candidacy and administration on my ability to dramatically reduce the murder rate in New Orleans. If elected, I pledge to reduce our City's murder rate by at least 40% or forgo re-election. I'll do so by introducing a "Road to a Safer New Orleans" about which the Times Picayune had to say:
"New Orleans mayoral hopeful James Perry wasn't stretching it when, in his latest TV ad, he said he has a plan to cut the city's murder rate by 40 percent -- or he won't run for re-election.".
As I mentioned, next week begins a major fundraising push for our campaign as we work to gather the resources we will need to compete and win the February 6th primary election. I am humbled by the following fundraisers that are being held in my honor.
On Monday, December 7th, Melissa Harris-Lacewell and I will be in Chicago for an event as well as having dinner with our Foundation member, Justin Massa, who won our drawing to bring Melissa and me to his hometown.
On Wednesday, December 9th, we will be at a D.C. event hosted by an impressive group of Civil Rights leaders.
On Thursday, December 10th, we will be in Philadelphia at an event where the Honorable Mayor Michael Nutter will be a special guest.
On Friday, December 11th, we will be in New York City at an event co-hosted by Professor Henry Louis Gates.
I hope if you are in the area that you'll join me in person. Or, if you have friends in the area that you will pass the invite on.
I am have been humbled by the outpouring of support our campaign has received both locally and nationally and with the election just a little over 60 days away our campaign is peaking at just the right time.
