Too many promises betrayed, and now this new war escalation.
Is this blog called "Daily Kos" or is it called "Daily Barack Obama?"
I thought we were activists.
We should march on Washington. We should recognize that no good change ever was effected without a lot of pain, in the past.
Civil rights for African Americans? Not exactly a walk in the park. Vietnam? Kinda rough too.
So, why do we think anything is different this time around?
That means sacrifice, though. For me, that means I sacrifice my garden. It won't stay alive while I march on Washington, this spring. The climate here is warm, and they don't like leftists here. Any friend I might have had, would want to march with me.
A year's death in a garden is a big deal for a gardener. You only get so many years.
I hope I can take my dog with me. I hope someone will give me a ride. I can chip in for gas and other expenses.
But I'm willing to do it, though. I'm willing to let my garden die in order to lend my one self, to marching on Washington.
To protest the war.
To protest the stupidity.
To protest the bigotry.
To protest the devastation.
To say "No, this not only is not good enough, it's not within light years of good enough. You are selling us out."
And you here who worked so hard to get this administration in power, should recognize that the most.
You should be with us, when we march on Washington. You should be right up there looking Barack Obama and company in the eye, and saying:
"We trusted you. We worked for you. Hell, we busted our butts working for you.
"We prayed for you to win.
"And we were ecstatic on election night, when you did. It changed our lives when that happened, it changed us.
"And now, where are you, Barack Obama? Where are you, Democratic Congress?
"Why are you sending us down the same bad roads?"
But no. Asking why isn't the point any more. The answers are never really there.
Nothing ever changes. We must march on Washington. We have to stop asking, and start telling.
