It's time to get organized for 2010. First up is to get a strategy in place.
In the 2008 election cycle, there was agreement that we need more Democrats. And we did it. Now we need better Democrats. The strategic question is to detail where our efforts would best be placed to accomplish that goal. Below are some possibilities, not necessarily mutually exclusive. I propose them not to exhaust the topic, but to begin it. So please add your thoughts. I'll keep a tally of suggestions and put it up on Google docs:
(See ya over the fold)
1. Work locally to get progressive Dem candidates to challenge Repubs
** Consider local, state, House, and Senate races:
to decide towards which races we should target
our efforts?
** Concentrate on weak Repubs?
** Continue 50-state strategy?
2. Primary Blue Dogs and conservaDems with progressive
candidates
3. Foster third party movement to:
** Force Dem Party left
** Make Progressives look more centrist via
the Overton window?
** Counteract Teabaggers
4. Create alliance with Teabaggers on reining in Wall
St and aiming stimulus money towards Main St.
5. Consider messages to reach out and re-energize African-
American and youth voters.
