From the Albany Times-Union, Charles Headley has put together a concise and what should be obvious to everyone article that smacks down the lie's upon lie's and the insane rhetoric-of-the-day silliness that I have unfortunately seen spewed by both sides of the political aisle recently.
Don't compare Obama to Bush
I find it quite odd these days how many pundits say that President Barack Obama is starting to sound the same as President George W. Bush. This is happening because of the recent troop allocations, timetables and other actions that the Obama administration undertook in support of our efforts in Afghanistan.
Oh, it's not just the pundits that are making these claims, my friend. There are those on the left as well as those on the right that are claiming just the same. Some out of simple frustration that this war is going to continue, and believe me I understand that. Others, well, they just aren't happy with the fact that their hoped for change hasn't happened as quickly as they wanted it to, and they've kind of given up hope. The others? Well, they just want to see the President fail at anything and everything he touches. No matter what...
This is far from mimicry. The Bush administration abandoned efforts in Afghanistan to pursue the occupation of Iraq. This all under the guise of freeing the world from the threats that Iraq imposed by its affinity for weapons of mass destruction.
Nothing needs to be added here, n'est pas?

Focus and diligence is the character of Americans. Fear and paranoia is the character of our enemy.
We know who the enemy is. Let us not continue to be a party to feeding their rhetoric.
