Those of us in the liberal community have given Harry Reid hell. Deservedly so. However the prospect of the White house cutting a deal with Lieberman after cutting our throats at every turn has me so disgusted I am starting to think they have been throwing Reid under the bus all along.
POLITICO is reporting that the white house is "instructing Reid to cut a deal with Lieberman"
What The Fuck?????
Obama has surrounded himself with corporatists and Washington insiders. The same scum that worked to defeat him in the primaries. We all know that but if you are like me you have held your nose. Maybe this is what Obama really is but this is not the man that I voted for. He needs more middle class, more down to earth people around him. He needs to jettison the rich guys and get back to the type of people that got him elected. Get out of the damn country club Mr. President. Screw Lieberman, pass everything in the health care bill but the public option and then just go ahead and expand medicare and medicaid in reconciliation. In other words, man the Hell up. Watching this circus for the past 6 months made me realize that Obama was the one that put all these issues in the hands of idiots like Baucus and Nelson. Obama made the decision with Harry Reid to hold fast to these archaic rules of the Senate like he owed those douche bags some allegiance. Obama is the person who wanted to incorporate Snowe as co-president and it is Obama who continues to kiss Lieberman's ring even after he gutted him like a catfish during the general election. The following thought occurred to me, he doesn't have any real people around him, its almost as if Obama NEEDS someone/something like Rev. Wright to get his mind right.
************UPDATE************
For all my peeps on here that have taken offense to me assigning the blame for the vacuum of leadership on Obama's shoulders I'm sure now that the reports of the Public Options demise has taken some of the rosey tint off of those glasses. But the solution to this problem is very simple:
#1. Pass the damn bill this year, this month if possible. Strip the Medicare, Medicaid, and Public Option out. No excuses.
#2. Put Joe Lieberman out of the Caucus this year, this month, this week. No Excuses.
#3. Pass all of the issues that we want in reconciliation. All of it. No excuses. PUT IT TO A FUCKING UP OR DOWN VOTE... This year. Make the trigger option a trigger to a complete state by state administered single payer system.
#5. BEFORE the 2010 elections. First of the year. Reorganize the Senate. Change the rules and have every fucking committee chairman, every senate leader, be voted on amongst their piers. I count at least 51 Senators that will set this right. And all of these yam bags should have to submit to another vote because they haven't shown any leadership.
