If Harry Reid worked for my company, he would be FIRED! He is not answering to his "shareholders". I just don't understand how someone without a spine could be selected as the leader of anything.
I do agree that I will not show up in 2010 to support the Democratic base unless they can push the agenda we (Democrats and progressive Independents) asked them to by electing them in both 2007 and 2008.
It makes me sick that I get emails from DSCC written by John Kerry saying that they need money or if Republicans get elected, then you'll REALLY SEE NOTHING GET DONE. My reply to that would be, "What's the difference? You guys can't get anything done within your own party." I think John ought to go to the man he asked to be the VP and tell him to get his head out of his ass. It was Liebermann's fault in the first place for having progressives go after him in the last election. He wasn't acting like a Democrat, and in fact, was proping up Republicans. That was a mistake to let him keep his caucus post.
Sorry that I'm not much of a follower of politics. I think like many people, the last election really got me to want to be involved in politics. However, it's hard to support these people anymore if they're not going to follow through. It would be like being a fan of a sports team whose players made it known that they weren't really going to try, even though they signed up to do so.
I wish that someone could let me know what to do to change things. I can work locally to volunteer to help people, but I wish there was a way to run for office without having to spend money to do so.
Sorry for the ramble. I'm feeling kind of lost now and don't really feel as though I can do anything to make a difference, politically. As long as I have my job and a means to support my family, I think I'll just keep plugging along. Although I think I might learn some Scandinavian languages and start to plan moving to one of those countries in the near future.
