I'm stupid because I gave every penny I could in 2008 to Democrats who are now throwing me under the bus for compromise rather than saving it for health insurance premiums.
I'm stupid because I invested myself in the Obama campaign, heart and soul, and actually thought he could change business as usual. Boy, was I wrong.
I'm stupid because I thought Don't Ask, Don't Tell would be removed as policy in favor of open service, and that the Defense of Marriage Act would get repealed. Yeah, Republicans will never overturn those, but doesn't look like Democrats will either.
I'm stupid because I believed it when I was told that Joe Lieberman was with us on everything but the war, and while he wasn't Ned Lamont good, he was better than a Republican. Well, I haven't seen his vote on anything that I care about so he is about as useful as Mitch McConnell is to me.
And now I'm stupid because I don't feel like wasting time and money on empty promises and hollow statements from politicians -- even great ones, because at the end of the day, they still just turn out to be politicians -- ready to take my money and do nothing to improve the lives of Americans, because it'll get them on the talking-head shows and massage a massive ego.
So yeah, I guess I am stupid. Maybe once Democrats start making me feel smart, they'll start getting my time, effort, and hard-earned money again. Until then, why would I give my time and cash to feel stupid?
