My organization does not have the resources to handle two large issues as effectively as I would like at this point, so on election day here in California in 2008 I committed our work to restoring equality and repealing prop 8 as soon as could be, which is 2010. However those that know me know that I like many of you was birthed into political activism to support Gov. Dean and my orgs name still bears tribute to that inspiration. Thus, this new effort of ours is ready today but I launch knowing the timing is poor as it coincides with Gov Dean once again taking the lead on the most important issues of our time.
If we could find an extra resource or two I'd love to support him with our media as he supports all of us with his words and deeds.
Moving right along, first the video then the speech:
Personal notes aside, truthandhope.org is today launching it's effort to support the campaign to restore equality in California in 2010. The necessary first steps are to gather the 1 Million signatures needed to qualify for the ballot, while building the apparatus which can wage a winning campaign for equality once we do. Again I recall my roots by crafting a campaign which is meant to empower the grassroots, to unlock and unleash it's creativity and trust the people to carry our message to their community in what they know to be the most effective way. The Dean campaign gave it's supporters freedom to create and grew vast because of it, and our campaign Voices4Equality will do the same.
I believe that 2010 is the best chance we have to restore equality in California and that while there are so many issues to focus on, healthcare being not the least of which, that equality need not be delayed in the process.
If you're moved by this call, inspired by our video and ready to join your voice with ours then do so right now by visiting www.voices4equality.org - sign up and let us know how you can help, then kick in a few dollars to help if you can, join our social portal to discuss strategies, ideas etc. and meet other people committed to equality at
www.myV4E.com and please, share this message of hope and what can be with others.
As our video "Impossible" reminds us, history is written by those who step out from the crowd, rejecting the cries of cannot be, will never be or just wait.
The impossible is possible if we allow ourselves to make it so.
Thank you for all that you do,
