The big news today is President Obama saying "I didn't campaign on the public option."
The PCCC is releasing this TV ad holding President Obama accountable for his own words: promising a bill with a public option and actively opposing a mandate requiring people to buy junk private insurance policies. The current Senate bill is exactly the opposite of what he promised...
The ad will air in DC at the start of the new year -- and a version of it will air in Wisconsin starting this week, urging Sen. Russ Feingold to be a hero and insist on the public option.
We need one thousand people to each chip in $2 to get this ad on TV -- can you chip in $2? Click here.

Some folks are under the mistaken belief that Obama tried to get the public option, but he just couldn't.
The said truth is that President Obama refused to fight. He didn't barnstorm across Connecticut and Maine, demanding that senators who are out-of touch with their constituents support the public option. He never threatened Joe Lieberman's committee chairmanship or held out the threat of reconciliation. And this week we learned he never even pressed Lieberman behind the scenes.
Instead, he dispatched Rahm Emanuel to weakly cut deals behind the scenes, mooting the biggest weapon they had on their side: public option.
And now he wants to give up, and support a bill that uses our government to increase corporate power and is practically written by the insurance companies?
This will happen on issue after issue unless we let President Obama know we will hold him accountable for broken promises -- and his failure to fight.
You can do your part by chipping in toward our new ad or signing the petition today.
Thanks, folks, for your time.
