After a letter writing campaign and active boycott this CEO is leaving "voluntarily" after the board asked him to go.

And the sweet thing is, the boycott was the reason he got fired!

But in August, CtW raised the stakes by calling for the CEO's removal. The activist group said an editorial by Mackey opposing President Obama's health care plan damaged the company's reputation, especially among its left-leaning customers.

The group said Mackey "attempted to capitalize on the brand reputation of Whole Foods to champion his personal political views but has instead deeply offended a key segment of Whole Foods consumer base."

The full story below the fold

This is just evidence that this sort of pressure pays off.  I don't know about others, but to this day I won't buy Gallo products or Coors beer and I still won't watch ABC.

The boycott of Beck advertisers certainly has yielded good results, and now, a little Christmas present for those of us on the leftist fringe who want this gentlemen to keep his personal views quiet or leave.

Whole Foods is not near where I live so it's not some place I shop often and never since he shot off his mouth.  I'll wait and see whether I go back there.

As Paul Harvey would have said, the "rest of the story...."  is here.

Kiss Mackey's butt adios!

As Joe Bob Briggs would say, "Victory over Communism."

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
