We all know that Barack Obama is not going to hop up and relegalized cannabis. I am not expecting it to occur so easily or so simply (despite the fact that it could).

But Obama did promise to stop DEA raids on medical marijuana outfits in states with medical marijuana laws.

So why are these raids continuing?

IF 72% of Voters Want Obama to End DEA Medical Marijuana Raids why are these raids continuing?

since President Obama took office two weeks ago, the US Drug Enforcement Administration has undertaken at least seven separate raids of state-authorized medical marijuana providers in California and Colorado. Most recently, on Wednesday DEA officials — acting without the cooperation of state or local law enforcement agencies — served federal search warrants on at least four Los Angeles based medical marijuana collectives. Agents seized medicine, cash, financial records, and computers, but did not make any arrests.

The DEA is mostly interested in gathering data to mount further harassing raids on people with medical cannabis recommendations, as well as simply damaging the people and laws they have passed for themselves.

They turn around and when it's time to show that they have done something "constructive" with the billions of dollars they are given to "stop drugs", they proudly talk about all the sick people they have fucked over.

Today, in a front page article in The Washington Times White House spokesperson Nick Shapiro said, "The president believes that federal resources should not be used to circumvent state laws, and as he continues to appoint senior leadership to fill out the ranks of the federal government, he expects them to review their policies with that in mind."

Obama is president. That's better than I have done.

However, his suck-up, kumbayah approach to dealing with these mean-spiritied republicans, who want only to see him fail, is screwing his plans into the ground.

Along with our Hopes and dreams.

And our money.

I know he wants to rise above all this petty crap, but he will have to kick republicans in the teeth - hard - if he is actually going to get ANYWHERE.

He has to stop coddling these fuckers.

Bush/GOP people are everywhere and they mean to thwart Obama's entire agenda - which is YOUR agenda and MY agenda.

This is seen in the stimulus fight, where the GOP is only interested in feeding Wall Street and fucking the little people, and we see it with medical marijuana raids.

The DEA, like many important powerful federal government offices, has been filled with Bush-GOP loyalists. American government is salted full of these people, like worms in infected pork. These people are there specifically to fuck things up for you and me. To kill off Hope. To prevent Progress. To work day and night to ensure Obama fails.

The DEA will continue to raid, rob, and ruin as many medical marijuana dispensaries - most of which operate with the BLESSING of local authorities (even the local police! - until Obama really puts his foot down. Obama's order to the DEA would shore up state's rights.

The US Federal Government uses marijuana laws as a crowbar against the 10th Amendment, wanting to claim "federal primacy" of drug laws and to tell YOU that you cannot make your own laws. Obama has said he doesn't want federal monies blown thwarting the will of the people at the state level.

THAT is change I believe in.

And I expect Obama to deliver.

So. Do. You.

Obama, for purposes of re-election years from now, may wish to duck actual responsibility for this, despite the popularity of reform and despite the fact he'd be a hero after the nattering nabobs of reefer mad negativity shut the hell up. He can make his new AG do it - that would be just as effective.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
