Many of you may have read the recent comment made by Joe Biden:
Biden talks his way into trouble

In a video clip spreading rapidly across the Internet, C-Span cameras captured the Delaware Democrat talking cheerfully to an Indian-American political activist about his state's fast-growing Indian-American population.
In fact, Biden said, "You cannot go into a Dunkin' Donuts or a 7-Eleven unless you have a slight Indian accent."

Some may remember that Hillary Clinton made a similar comment in 2004:

SEN. HILLARY CLINTON (D), NEW YORK: As I introduce her, I want to end with her favorite quote, because I love this quote. It's from Mahatma Gandhi. He ran a gas station down in St. Louis for a couple of years. Mr. Gandhi, do you still go to the gas station? A lot of wisdom comes out of the gas station.

Indian-Americans are one of the wealthiest and one of the fastest growing ethnic groups in this country, and these racially-insensitive jokes made by prominent Democrats will almost certainly alienate Indian-American voters.
Also, the single most important issue for most Indian-Americans right now is the civilian nuclear cooperation agreement between the US and India.[1]
Conservative publications such as The Weekly Standard have come out in favor of the deal.[2]
I'm not aware of any liberal magazines (such as The New Republic and The Nation) that have done so.
