I just got this update/warning from our Tech people on a virus expected to hit tomorrow.
I know absolutely nothing about computers or viruses but I decided to share this before leaving for the day, just in case others were as unaware of this as I was.
Several people have let us know about the upcoming Conflicker C Virus anticipated to hit global computers on April 1st. Conflicker C is a concern as nobody fully understands it or what it is scheduled to do. We can advise that we have applied all available patches and precautions in anticipation of its arrival.
For your part, we ask that you follow safe email practices.
If you don't know the recipient and it looks suspicious, please delete it
If you weren't expecting an email and it looks suspicious, please delete it
If it has an attachment like: pif, scr, zip, exe, and it looks suspicious, please delete it
If it has a link to a website, and it looks suspicious, please delete it.
If you are concerned about your home computer, please ensure your home computer has been updated with the latest patches, select this link from your home computer. http://update.microsoft.com/... You may also wish to disconnect the Ethernet cable or simply not turn it on that day. Changing your computer?s clock will probably not help as the virus will most likely check internet time servers for verification.
Hope it helps someone somewhere.
