A few days ago, a friend of mine who had stopped voting for the GOP on the national level (but still kept his party registration for primaries, etc.) stormed down to the county courthouse where he lives and changed from GOP to Independent, because the state GOP had tried to resurrect a gay marriage amendment where he lives. Even though, as I said, he rarely votes GOP (and never at the national level), he didn't officially switch until this week.
This got me to thinking...
I got curious as to when we Kossacks switched, if ever.
I was in 8th grade when I started questioning my family's political beliefs, largely due to an English teacher who pried our rural, undereducated minds open. She did this not for partisan gain (she's actually fairly conservative), but because it was the right thing to do.
By the time I was old enough to vote, I was voting Democrat more often than not.
What's everyone else's story? When did you become a progressive/liberal/etc.? Are there any of you who voted for Dubya?
