Seems to be a lot of talking and not a lot of organizing here on Kos. We have some of the worlds greatest activists, and a large pool of like minded people on this site and I wish we would take advantage of this.
So let's do this.
I have no organizational skills. Nor do I have any real experience in government or community organization. But in November 2007 I happily left my family to go out and volunteer in Iowa and work for some great activists and community organizers. They inspired me. This site inspired me. And I'm willing to pitch in wherever I can to help.
So we need volunteers:
Who's passionate about health care, clean energy, foreign policy, torture policy, homelessness, getting better Dem.'s in office...ect.? As a community we need to figure out what issues we can effectively champion in a concerted effort.
We need to know your talents. What can you do to further the united cause? Do you have an expertise, real world experiences or would you rather be a foot soldier?
We need to nominate and elect leaders from our community to head these projects.
We need mission statements. Obviously when drafting these statements we're going to have to take in as many opinions as possible and come to general consensus as to what we want to propose. Maybe a daily post of the mission statement, from the elected representative of each approved category, with an attached poll till we get a 2/3 vote? Or please suggest better ideas, I'm just shooting from the hip.
We need a set up committees that can help with multi-state campaigns to get our messages out.
We need....

Look, obviously I'm horrible at this. But I know quite a few of you are brilliant at this type of organization. Will someone more experienced and knowledgeable than I champion this? I'm more than happy to help in anyway I can.
I admire so many of you for your insight and passion. I would be proud to join an effort to better our country with you.
