Interesting that the freerepublic thread on today's shooting at the Holocaust Museum by James Von Brunn includes many suggestions that Mr. Von Brunn votes Democratic.
Yet, thanks to the quick work of the folks at Think Progress, it seems that Mr. Von Brunn's "work" has been highlighted at freerepublic as recently as last December in a 200+-comment thread questioning the true identity of Barack Obama.
I wonder how many of those commenting today about Mr. Von Brunn cheered on the essence of his earlier work highlighted on the site?
Of course, the freepers have been sorely disappointed that the shooter in this attack was not a Muslim. And one poster even suggested that Obama was to blame for the attack.
But the real question is, how many of these same people celebrated the writing of Mr. Von Brunn earlier?
I suspect the linked post will disappear from freerepublic very soon (if it hasn't already), but the folks at Think Progress surely have a copy of it.
A few reactions from the freepers today:

"James Von Brunn, a white supremacist"
Wow, they sure are fast with a name and motive when its not a Muslim killing American.

Well, he’s white and not a muslim (presumably).
That fits the media template of a Jew-hater.

Yes, he's not a cotton sheet.

This is 0bama’s justification for Napolitano’s "terrorism" report and new gun-grabbing legislation.

Amazing isn't it? Usually we have wait or dig for days before we find out it was a Muhammadan advancing "Allah's" cause, spreading peaceful Islam into US neighborhoods (by killing off everyone else).

And the ultimate... It's all Obama's fault!
To: TomOnTheRun
It doesn’t matter that the jerk isn’t Muslim, he was doing the Muslin’s work, and Obama’s actions have encouraged this behavior.
He is a sign of the times. He will not be the last to snap.
One thing does confound me though. Everyone should be safe from evil guns in DC. They have laws against this, so it shouldn’t have happen.

So how many of these folks cheerleaded Mr. Von Brunn's loony conspiracy theory about Obama's origin when it was posted last December?
Update [2009-6-10 15:53:20 by Bob Johnson]:
A few of the "He-must-be-a-Democrat" claims along with other disavowing remarks from the very people who cheered on Mr. Von Brunn's lunatic rantings just a few months ago:
To: TomOnTheRun
oh crap. why don’t these old Democrat white supremacists (like the Democrats who tried to keep Conservative Republican James Meredith out of Ole Miss, or murdered those three civil rights workers near Meridian) just go away?

Hey, wilco, he was one of you. Guess that makes you allied with "muzzies and Nazi types," too!

He’s a sick puppy.
In the google search on his name, even stormfront says he’s sick.

Yep, califreak, he's a "sick puppy" and you all adored his work!
To: meandog
Like most old bigots, he's a Democrat. He ran for office in 1968 as a Democrat in New Hampshire.

"I can see a great alliance between Muzzies and Nazi types"
That's why Muzzies are predominantly Democrats.

"I think it bodes ill for the tea-parties but I may be paranoid."
How does a leftwing moonbat Democrat/Nazi sympathizer bode ill for Right wing Conservatives?

Because he will be linked with
- Nazis (which are seen rightly or wrongly as right wing)
- Anti-government movements
- Anti-FedReserve ... and there were some of those at the tea party here
It will be a lazy easy association that won;t challenge the notions already in their head.

Tom, "lazy association?" His work was cheered on by you and your fellow freepers! Nothing "lazy" about that connection at all!
Oops! Someone leaks the truth:

And I forgot to mention that the picture of his truck had a Bush/Cheney ‘04 sticker on it. wince Go looking around holywesternempire.org and Stormfront if you have the stomach. He’s got pictures up.
If they are linking him to an American political party it won’t be the Democrats.
Mind you - I think it would be irresponsible to link him with ANY mainstream American political party. He’s fringe on the fringe.
Effing Stormfront thought he was an extremist.

I'll just finish with this gem. Did you know "anti-semantics" is on the rise?

"And I forgot to mention that the picture of his truck had a Bush/Cheney ‘04 sticker on it.
He Also ran for office in 1968 as a Democrat in New Hampshire.
The guy was a nut case."
As someone else pointed out, anti semantics is on the rise, and it is predominantly a left wing sentiment throughout Europe and elsewhere.
Most sane people know Hitler was a left wing socialist, so attempts by the left to try turn this into a right wing sentiment will be seen for what it is, an attempt to disassociate themselves from their long standing beliefs.

Now that they've been caught brooming Von Brunn's racist, conspiracy-laden drivel (and the 200+ posts nearly all in agreement with his drivel), the honchos at freerepublic have put the piece back up!
Hilarious.
Must look like the Keystone Cops over there right now.
"Take it down!"
"I did, but I'm putting it back up!"
"Are you out of your mind? This guy is a murderer! A terrorist!"
"But we've already been exposed! It will look like we're hiding something!"
"We are hiding something for christfuckingsake!"
