After over a year of involvement with The Daily Kos I remain most impressed with the intellectual quality of the postings and the hard work and serious commitment to change exhibited by the contributors.
Following a Wikipedia-type model I would like to enlist Kossacks to develop as complete a list as possible of reasons why we need single payer health care along with documentation of the highest quality research that supports such a plan.
(More Below the Fold):
Here's an example of what I have in mind:
Physician Practice Interactions with Health Plans Cost $31 Billion A Year, Equaling 6.9 Percent of All Spending For Physician And Clinical Services, New Study Finds
from:

Health Affairs 28, no. 4 (2009): w533-w543 (published online 14 May 2009; 10.1377/hlthaff.28.4.w533)]
The content of the entry includes:
--a brief description of the argument which supports single payer health care reform
--a link, both embedded for easy linkage and written out for better documentation,
--and, if available, a formal citation.
Please add to the list in the form of a comment. I will attempt to get this list to those single payer advocates who are going to Washington later this week to meet with Senator Baucus.
In any event, let's keep up the pressure, from the inside and the outside.
After you provide your reason to support single payer, and read others', get to work. Here's a list of people to call and their phone numbers.
