Shoo bee doo be doo be doo ba doo bee doo...
Sit down. I'm gonna lay one on ya.
Muskegon, Michigan has hit 20% unemployment for May according to the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor, & Economic Growth.
Remember that the peak of the Great Depression was 29% unemployment, nationally. So you can see we're none too far from that.
The good news is, this time around we've advanced in the concept of "social programs" and that's gonna moderate the nasties.
The bad news is, the same dick-lesions that have tried to pretend the Free Market will Cure All still have a voice and a say in Washington, for some fucked up reason. And some are in our party trying to stop health care.
And as we lose health insurance, our jobs, our ability to pay, Washington is still kneeling before health insurance companies.
Now...I don't want to talk too big, but I'm going to report it as I see it.
There is unrest.
The reps out there in Michigan and around the country need to pay heed.
I'm not joking around. There is real unrest brewing in a state reaching Depression Era unemployment.
Reps...please, please listen close because you're playing with fire on this health care reform thing.
There is unrest.
And I don't mean the touchy-feely, kumbaya, sit-in, love-in, letter writing sort of unrest. If you start to talk to people in a candid, direct way around here you hear in hushed tones deep sentiments of UnRest like a warehouse of hot, dry wood and hay. It's not a place you want to cavalierly toss your glowing Cuban cigar butts into.
Unemployed, stretched to the limit, the the state insurer of last resort is raising its rates by 44% in a depressed Great Lakes region 30 million strong...what the hell do our reps think will happen when we're kicked to the dirt again.
What do they think will happen even as 73% of Americans support a public option in health care to compete with private insurance, but our reps go ahead and do the bidding of their monied Corporate masters anyway? Transparently.
There is unrest, and it's going to get worse before it gets better.
Look...
...People are angry, and desperate, and feel helpless against organizations that can spend them in circles on lobbyists. People are angry, and soon over a million of them will have very little to lose. Judging from history...this is not a good scenario.
