After just reading the polls from 2000 about how americans thought about the direction of their country, I seriously doubt, that this is a reliable indicator of Bushs vulnerability next year!
FOX news, not known to be too sympathetic towards Al Gore and Bill Clinton had the following numbers then:

- /20-21/00 60 30 10 LV
- /23-24/00 60 28 12
Judging from these numbers alone, Al Gore should have swept the country in an electoral college landslide. But it didnt happen as we know.
Therefore I still think that the odds (with incumbency, Ws huge money advantage and repub majorities in both chambers of congress) are still strongly against the democratic nominee. Whoever that will be.
P.S. Interesting how the numbers changed immediately after the election, as if americans had second thoughts about their choice...
