Good morning all!
I don't have much to say beyond the fact that I an American citizen, I am a Canadian citizen. I have great health care in Canada. I love Canada. In my experience as a young Mexican American girl I suffered education deprivation as described in Kozol's Savage Inequalities.
But never the less, my hearts swells and my throat chokes up when I hear the American National anthem.
I am coming back to the United States.
I have bought my house and this summer we had the garage rebuilt. Next time we will have a new air conditioner installed because Texas gets very hot.
I love the United States and my family. In a minute, I will return my daughter's dogs to her house because she had a party last night, and take off to see my parents and family for Sunday breakfast.
I will relish these things because I return to Canada on Wednesday.
I will cry.
Bye bye go to see my Mom and Dad.
update .....
No this barely a diary, but I had to get it out because I too went and read the offending diary and had to tell all of you that while there is one leaving there is one coming back.
To the leaver I say fssssst go on. They might or might not do it. All speculations and propositions I AM returning.
I am returning to accordion music in Norteño music I listen to while driving to see my parents, to my German American next door neighbor who waters my lawn while we are gone for free, to eating tripas at midnight at New Years with too many fireworks and Margaritas.
A few weeks ago I had the wonderful experience as an expat to spend time with my gente, my people. the members of my community ....
The Daily Kos folks ...... Americans.
Love to all of you Americans

update.....
I could be more eloquent I suppose but then I would be missing my Huevos Rancheros at Mom's and listening to cacophony of voices at the breakfast table remembering Teddy and insulting Republicans.
This I will miss upon my return to Alberta.
I have been an expat since I was 24 years old.
