After examining the video carefully, I don't think Governor Dean's speech was THAT bad, but it was bad. For some reason I think that this was due in part because of Tom Harkin. If you notice, Dean turns to the senator and says "but not only that, Tom Harkin, but we're going to...." Anyone think, like me, that Dean must have said something like this to Harkin early Monday morning:
It's close buddy, but you're endorsement is going to put me over the top.
Perhaps a little embarassed for the senator?
