A point worth making when people start comparing GWB to Reagan ---
After Reagan foolishly got pulled into having U.S. troops in a middle eastern country, a military adventure which ended after the mass bombing of Marines in Lebanon -- he pulled the troops out. He didn't say that, to show resolve, we needed to keep a military presence there.
Now, there are some who argue that the removal of troops made the U.S. look weak in the Arab world, but it could also be argued that this showed an ability to reconsider policy and thus avoid greater U.S. involvement in a difficult part of the world. GWB lacks this sort of flexibiity.
