As a demonstration of how seriously twisted they have become, the far right is now engaging in an all-out effort to help bring the 2016 Olympic games to... drumroll please... Brazil!
This morning, all one has to do is peruse some of the right wing sites to get a disturbing feeling of truly un-American sentiment. This group, in their all out hatred of all things Obama, will stake a position against having the Olympic games in the United States, simply because they will take place in the President's hometown of Chicago and he and the first lady are solidly behind the effort.
First up, Drudge, who makes the strongest case for the games to be held in Brazil. The ankle-biting Mr. Drudge cites in its headline a Chicago Fox affiliate who has been "ordered" not to run an anti-Olympics story. Of course, Drudge, not really a very thorough news reporter, fails to mention who exactly ORDERED the station not to run the story. He only states that "the Chicago Olympic Committee told FOX Chicago that its broadcast "would harm Chicago's chances" to be awarded the games." Duh.
Michelle Malkin, predictably, reports to duty and jumps right on the bandwagon, with a lead story that touts an upcoming "No Games in Chicago" protest. Freepers too are all over it, where I found this comment which says it all:
If Chicago 2016 can be stopped, it will be a huge slap in the faces of Hussein, Michelle and Oprah.
Look, I can understand honest, informed debate about whether hosting the Olympics is a worthy endeavor for any country and city. But does anyone remember such anti-American style opposition to hosting the games in Atlanta, Los Angeles, or Salt Lake City? I don't.
And is their hatred of Obama and America so high that they will actively engage in a campaign to help another country win an Olympic bid against us? The answer, of course, is yes.
