According to the site PoliticsPA, former Pennsylvania State Treasurer Barbara Hafer (a moderate Democrat, formerly a moderate Republican) is planning to challenge Rep. Tim Murphy (R) in his 18th congressional district.
Guys, PA-18 just catapulted into the Lean GOP or even Toss-Up category. Hafer is well-liked in Pennsylvania and Senate candidate Bob Casey Jr. might well win this district even though Governor Rendell probably won't. It is a predominantly suburban district in the Pittsburgh area, with more registered Dems than Repubs, but it leans Republican as a district. Hafer can win here. Watch for an official announcement soon.
Remember, every competitive GOP-held seat is more $ drained away from the NRCC. So I say, Hafer for Congress!
