Well, I guess Pelosi now will be toasted (meaning made toast, criticized (not my best word choice)) by centrists for this bit of truthtelling as well as by leftists for failing to impeach Bush.
We all know who she was talking about.
Referring to one of Obama's campaign pledges, a reporter asked Pelosi whether C-SPAN cameras would be allowed to film the House-Senate negotiations.
"There are a number of things he was for on the campaign trail," said a bemused Pelosi.

I ceretainly hope Speaker Pelosi fights to improve the bill. As Nyceve said, we will begin our struggle to change the bill after it is adopted. I think she described it as "the civil rights battle of our generation."
Here's her comment:
Love you Jason, I really do . . . (5+ / 0-)

but it seems to me this bill is essentially unfixable.
We can possibly turn a lemon into some unsweetened and quite bitter lemonade, but fixing it, doing the right thing for the American people, will begin the day after the bill gets signed.
Then, all of us, will need to do yeoman work to turn healthcare into the civil rights movement of our generation.

The fight goes on. Let's improve the bill as much as possible now and then begin a new fight to fix it.
