Republican moderates in the grand old, old, old.. old... party are increasingly hard to find, and when they do see the light of day in the national conversation they are mocked, criticized, and pointedly told to abandon ship. The coming months will see what the fringe elements will accomplish in their quest for power, for congressional and senate seats.
In my view this infighting will prove to be a blessing for Democrats. I am waiting for the buildup of passions amongst Republican factions to heat to a frenzied pitch, as that elusive search for "constitutional purity" will fracture the debate— and candidates' chances of winning— into shards of broken glass.
Much can change between now and November, certainly, but one thing I can guarantee— somehow, some way, the Republicans will find a way to shoot themselves squarely in the foot. Watch and see.
