Okay, there's a million jokes to be made about this one. But I'm serious.
I'm requesting legitimacy of the journalistic kind. Because my city is going to be invaded by the wackiest of the wacky wingers in a few short months. And I want in.
Come see.
Sarah Palin confirmed for GOP conference in New Orleans
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced today that she will address the Southern Republican Leadership Conference being held in New Orleans April 8-11.
Palin, who rose to national prominence as the 2008 vice presidential nominee before quitting her job last summer and writing a best-selling biography, is among several influential Republicans who've been invited to speak to GOP activists at the meeting.
"This is a great opportunity to listen and speak to those who are helping to set the direction of our party," Palin said, according to a statement on the SRLC web site.
Other invited speakers include commentators Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and four men frequently mentioned as potential presidential candidates in 2012: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
Never again will I get a chance to see and document so many specimens of the species Homo wingnuttus in their natural habitat: the socially-reinforcing company of one another.

I promise to give a full and complete account of whatever I find. I do not promise to be kind.
