I get to pull out my little gloat parade. I am 2 for 2 in my choices today. Woo hoo!
Game #1: Jets vs. Bengals.
My prediction was Jets 31, Bengals 17. The final score was actually Jets 24, Bengals 14. Pretty darn close if I do say so myself. However, the game didn't go exactly as I thought it would.
First of all, the Bengals offense, powered by the incredible Cedric Benson, was a bit stronger than I thought it would be (though inconsistent at times). The Jets offense, on the other hand, was much cleaner and tighter and error-free than I thought it would be. Mark Sanchez was out of this world today. Then again, you are only as good as your offensive line, and the Bengals offensive line was way too porous, particularly in the second half when it counted most.
Second of all, the Bengals are not usually the type of team to beat itself, at least most of the time. But with two disastrous turnovers and two missed field goals that were both chip shots, the Bengals really handed over the game to the Jets on a silver platter. On top of that, Carson Palmer was sacked three times and Sanchez wasn't even sacked once.
Game #2: Eagles vs. Cowboys
My prediction was Cowboys 24, Eagles 14. The final score was quite the blowout - Cowboys 34, Eagles 14. I was correct in my assessment that the Eagles would not be able to overcome the Cowboys' high-powered defense. Donovan McNabb was sacked countless times and the Eagles were unable to stop Dallas' diverse array of offensive attacks.
Next up for the Cowboys will be the Vikings. With Tono Romo and Brett Favre having truly excellent seasons, it should be a very exciting game. The Vikings are 8 and 0 at home this year so it will be definitely be a real challenge for the Cowboys.
Did anyone else go 2 and 0 today on his or her predictions?
