So, this week I was going to do a photo-mentary of what it actually looks like to eat less than 2000 calories per day. I was going to be all good and run a calorie deficit all week and exercise daily and start the New Year off right.
Instead, I just kind of continued the Holidays. On Monday, after two days of doin' it right, I came home from double Zumba and was so hungry that I ate my way through way more food than I should have. But all the usual tricks, drinking copious amounts of water, waiting 20 minutes to see if satiety set in, etc., did not work. I was hungry. The beast demanded to be fed.

On Tuesday I did OK. On Wednesday, a friend came to town. I took her out for a giant, delicious Neapolitan pastry at Amelie's French Bakery. Then we went and had sushi for dinner. We also bought a quarter-wheel of Brillat-Savarin, some crusty bread, and a bottle of wine to snack on while we watched Tropic Thunder. It was a diet debacle.
The rest of the week was OK. I got eight punches in my Zumba card between Jan. 2 and today. I ended posting a reasonable calorie deficit five out of the seven days, but my average deficit for the week was only 80 and the scale didn't budge.
Needless to say, if I was the kind to obsess over broken resolutions, or to wait until next year to restart them again, I'd be hosed right about now.
So how are YOUR New Years' Resolutions going? Lay it on me. I'm making my new, incremental resolution to do better this week in 3...2...1...
