This is a short diary. And I really don't give a crap.
Yesterday, the US Supreme Court ruled - 5 to 4 of course - that, because lower courts did not "follow the correct procedures," the Prop 8 trial taking place in California cannot be televised. In feats of rhetorical gymnastics remarkable even for conservative members of this Court, we are privileged to witness truly world-class bullshitery on display. I have to admit, I'm a little impressed at this level of delusional thinking.
You can read the "opinion" here: http://www.supremecourtus.gov/...
The best part of this decision is here:
JUSTICE BREYER, with whom JUSTICE STEVENS, JUSTICE GINSBURG and JUSTICE SOTOMAYOR join, dissenting.
(Thank you, Jesus.)
As usual, Justice Breyer does his best to hold off the insanity that is the conservative block, to no avail.
I'm sure legal pundits will debate the legal arguments. But what's really going on is this: The US Supreme Court doesn't want the American public to observe the the "same-sex marriage" trial taking place in California because the equal protection arguments plaintiffs are making in that case are so persuasive that Scalia, et al. are afraid they won't later be able credibly to employ their unparalleled powers of bullshit to reverse what ought to be an obvious - and righteous - result.
And that, ladies and gentleman, is bullshit.
