Our collective effort to deliver relief funds to Haiti in this time of extreme need raised almost 1 million in less than 24 hours. And the Center for American Progress successfully lobbied MasterCard to donate all of it’s credit card transaction fees collected from our Haiti donations too. When progressive organizations work together, we make a difference. Progressives for Haiti have raised an incredible amount of relief, awareness, and delivered resources, all within 24 hours.
But we must stay focused.
Pat Robertson’s comments were offensive and embarrassing at best. Rush Limbaugh doesn’t deserve to continue to blast hateful ideas – just add this to the list of reasons why progressives need to keep coming through. You and I both know that conservative minds will never change. And I’m glad I don’t identify with that community. It’s all a distraction from what’s important: recovery in Haiti.
While conservatives veer off track, we’ll stay our course. Doctors without Borders operates one of the few free trauma centers in Port-au-Prince as well as an emergency hospital in the capital for pregnant women, new mothers, and newborn children—and all three of it’s primary medical centers collapsed during the quake.
They’ve already set up temporary shelters and are offering emergency care on the ground. We can’t be there to help with our own two hands, but we can send our resources to support those who are working hard in this recovery.
Please contribute whatever you can today.
Thanks to immediate response and hard work, every single penny you chip in will go directly to those in need in this devastating tragedy. You won’t even lose a nickel on MasterCard processing fees. It’s been 24 hours and our efforts are already making an impact.
Think of someone near and dear to you. It’s horrible, I know, but now think about if that person was buried under rubble and every penny you sent removed one more piece of concrete. Because that’s the reality Haitian’s are facing.
Let’s stay focused on what matters. Please give what you can today.
