Last month, filmmaker Penelope Price travelled to Afghanistan with director of photography Frank Kraljic to film a documentary. I chronicled her adventure with diaries and photos Penelope sent me while she was there. I now have some video (without commentary). Enjoy!

There is something that has been nagging at me about the debate over sending more troops to Afghanistan.
A while back I heard retired General Barry McCaffrey say that if we pull out now, it would be "a failed state and a bloodbath".
Then I read this diary by Setrak about how hopeful the Afghans are, and I thought of this excerpt from Penelope Price's journal December 20th:
Yasin is inspirational. He wants to run for President of Afghanistan in 10 years. Education will be his platform and his vision. He will first train leaders, then get them into parliament, make alliances with them, and then run for President.
What would happen to "Yasin's" political aspirations if we pulled out and Afghanistan became a "failed state and a bloodbath?"
What would life be like for this young girl?
Would she be able to go outside? Go to school? Would she even survive?
There are no easy answers.
I'll close with this Rumi poem Penelope sent when she began her trip.
Only Love,
Only the holder the flag fits into,
And wind. No flag.
