I just received a pre-recorded push-poll phone call from a "public research" company on my cell phone. The cell phone number was (202) 461-3440. Here's a rough transcript:
"Hello. I'm from a public research company. We're conducting a survey on issues important to the state of Massachusetts. Are you voting in the election this month to fill the Senate seat of the late Ted Kennedy?"
"The candidates for this race are Scott Brown, Martha Coakley, and Joseph Kennedy. Are you going to vote for Scott Brown?"
"Are you going to vote for Martha Coakley?"
"Are you going to vote for Joseph Kennedy?"
"Do you support the legalization of gay marriage nationwide?"
"That's all the questions relating to Massachusetts. Please stay on the line while I ask a few questions of global importance."
"A Syracuse researcher has found that people who identify as liberals earn 25% more than people who identify as conservatives, but donate less to charity. Do you find this research plausible?"
"We swore never to forget the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust. Islamic fundamentalists are trying to kill the millions of Jews in Israel. Meanwhile, millions of Africans are dying of diseases in Africa. Which is more deserving of national resources?"
At this point I hung up.
Pre-recorded phone calls to cell phones are an FCC violation. If you receive a phone call like this, report it to the FCC at http://esupport.fcc.gov/... and start a papertrail.
Sorry for the short length, but I want to make people aware that the Brown campaign is putting this out there.
