This isn't going to be particularly long, but from the comments I've been reading, I'm not alone in wanting to talk about my voting experience this morning in the Coakley-Brown Senate race.
As I mentioned in an earlier comment, I just got back a half-hour ago. The polling place is in a school right down the block for me (here in Boston, Allston actually), so it was easy for me to roll out of bed, put on some pants and get ther a little before 7:30. No one from either side was holding signs outside -- can't decide if that was a good or bad thing.
There was no line, but when I signed in I asked the poll worker. She said there was a huge line when they opened. I took a look at the counter on the ballot retrieval screen and it said I was the 28th person from my precinct to have voted already.
The only bad thing is that I noticed three guys walking in as I was leaving and they really looked like the types who listen to Howie Carr. Not sure if I should be worried.
So, tell us your stories!
Update #1: Forgot to mention weather. There was light snow when I went out to vote. That got a little heavier later on, though now at almost 9:30 a.m. it seems to have eased off. Radar map on the Weather Channel seems to show snow all across the state, but it all may not be hitting the ground. Hopefully that won't depress our turn out -- I think the Tea Baggers would march through firestorms to vote for Brown!
And, of course, thanks for the Rec List!
Update #2: Tip o' the hat to Kath25 who reminds us that now we've all voted to take the time to visit this link and call others to get out there to vote!
Update #3: And, of course, there are the usual shenanigans on (R) side, so if you've experienced any issues call the Voter Protection Hotline at 617-351-6866.
