It feels like a good time to remember how long and how hard the fight has been for health care. I have this fantastic old Life Magazine from 1965 that reminds me that the fight is much bigger than Barack Obama. It's a billion times bigger than Scott Brown, and therefore, light years bigger than the teabaggers. We can take this blow, should it come. Teddy perservered through a broken back. Even if it's a bad day for us, it's far from over. It will only be over when every American has health care. Period.
So, here's a story many have forgotten about my personal health care hero.
Teddy was inside this airplane in 1964.
FYI: lots of images after the fold.
...the late senator hearkened back to the 1964 crash and his subsequent medical care as the inspiration for his efforts in Congress to make health care affordable. "I knew the care was expensive, but I didn't have to worry about that," Kennedy wrote. "But quality care shouldn't depend on your financial resources, or the type of job you have, or the medical condition you face. Every American should be able to get the same treatment that U.S. senators are entitled to."
