I bought a kalimba the other day, via the Internet. A Hugh Tracy kalimba.
It cost me $98.
I had a good kalimba when I was a kid, and I always remembered having it. They are neat.
Kids love them.
And I think a kid should have this kalimba, but I don't have access to any kids right now.
What I'm asking for here is for someone to send $98 to the ShelterBox people, or Doctors Without Borders, or Mercy Corps. In return, you get the kalimba. But you have to promise to get it to a kid who is in need, in turn.
That's the deal. I pay postage. If it's international postage, I can do that too. We can talk.
The website of the people I bought this kalimba from is kalimbamagic.com.
The kalimba I bought is a Junior Celeste (Pentatonic)
It's designed for little fingers. My hands are relatively small. Works fine for me. It's a beautifully made instrument and perfectly tuned.
I paid $98 for it with shipping. I bought it mostly to just see one again, and play it a bit. But I don't need it. Time to pass it on.
This is a kind of complicated sort of relief request I'm doing here; I know that. That's part of my gig; making it more complicated. Because the more complicated we make what we give and get and how we do it; the more we create good civilization, in all its intricate details.
I will keep this kalimba until someone writes me about how I can send it to a kid who needs it, in exchange for the patron recipient donating $98 to Haiti relief efforts as described above. That's the deal.
