Below is the letter I sent to the three Senator's. It is just my opinion why we lost last nights election. As I stated on previous posts, I am not an eloquent writer, but I feel that we all should contact our elected officials no matter how important they feel they are.
Dear Senator’s Harry Reid, Senator Kerry, and Senator Webb:
I am writing the three of you this letter because Senator Reid, you are Senate Majority Leader. Senator Kerry, you are my Senator and Senator Webb, it will become clear why you are included reading this letter.
As we all know, we, as Democrats, were defeated in the Massachusetts Senatorial Election last night. Below are the reasons why I feel we lost. I agree part of the reason is that the Coakley Campaign became complacent after the primary. That is just a small part of the reason. The main reason of the failure to elect a democrat falls in the lap of the Senate Democratic Caucus. After the 2008 election the Democratic Caucus provided no leadership, capitulated time and time again to the Republican Minority Party and acted like lap dogs to the big business and Wall St. The Republican Party was the lap dog to big business for the six years they controlled the House, Senate and White House and looked what happened to the nation. Why doing the same things when Democrats took over would actually improve the situation? We elected democrats for change, not more of the same.
Senator Webb, this is why I am including you in this letter. While I was watching the talking heads last night one stated that you and a few "silent senators" were concerned about following the "liberal agenda". If that is true, then I have to respectfully disagree with you. The Senate actually has to work on the democratic agenda to be concerned about it. The reason, in my opinion, the democrats lost last night’s election is that the Democratic Senatorial Caucus is not working on the democratic agenda. The caucus is working on the DLC (Republican Lite) agenda. It is interesting that after ten years of failure, of losing election after election after election, the caucus wouldn’t realize that maybe it is time to abandon the conservative DLC and start working on an agenda that would actually enthuse and motivate the base.
Senator’s, here is a fact that you should be aware of:
Between the years of 2001-2005 when the DLC and DLC’er Terry McCauliffe ran the DNC, they lost 6 senatorial seats, 13 House seats and 1 Presidency. One would think that after constant failure, the democratic elected officials would stop listening to the advisor’s that did not support the values of its constituents. That is until a Progressive like Gov. Howard Dean took over the DNC and changed the direction of the party. I understand that the party leadership did not like Gov. Dean, but he changed the party around to a party that actually resonated its value of their constituents, not the values of its opponents.

If you want to enthuse your base to come out and support the Democratic Party, then it is imperative that you work on the democratic agenda and stop capitulating to the Republicans, Wall St, and Corporatist. If you want to win in 2010 and 2012, then start working on reinstating the fairness doctrine (I find it interesting that the democrats cannot support a doctrine that just says that both sides of an issue needs to be discussed).
Work on a healthcare reform bill that is not written by the healthcare industry. Work on a consumer protection bill not written by the credit card companies. Work on marriage equality, don’t ask, and don’t tell, Reregulate Wall St and the banks so they cannot collapse the economy again. Work on Campaign financing. Work on the Employee Free Choice Act. Work on fining corporations for sending jobs overseas to countries that have no livable wages, no employees protections and no child labor laws.
So the choice is yours. You can either join the your voting constituents working on the Democratic Agenda, enthuse your base and have a chance on winning or stay the course, keep listening and working on the DLC agenda so that the people who would actually vote for you stay home and definitely lose.
Thank you for your time and I hope you read this letter BEFORE it hits the circular file.

All I ask is that you take the time and email, fax or call your Senator's. Maybe after enough calls, they will get the message it is time to represent their constituent base, not their corporat financial base.
