If you feel hung over and you haven't had a drink then you are in the right place. It is not just about the MA. senate race. It is about what has been happening since the last national election.

It feels like if we had 70 votes in the senate we still couldn't pass a decent health care bill today. Exactly 11 would probably have reservations of one kind or another and the whole process would stall, eventually look corrupt and the President would avoid acting like a powerful leader as long as he possibly could (he would hide behind his trusty bipartisan shield). In the end, the whole process could still be stopped by a pebble in the shoe of a Senate intern.

...and after this defeat they now play too weak to pass anything even if they are still in charge and have only one less vote...

Hey! This is the Democratic party!

I am tired of the whole corrupt and incompetent show. It has little to do with what we aspire that is noble as a party, but a lot to do with lobbyists, party consultants, weak leaders and how the good life is lived in the political circus nationwide.

How many people would have to be asleep at the switch to allow the MA. senate debacle? Take some quiet time to ponder the moronic edifice that would have to be created for this to happen in the bluest state in the Union at this critical time.

When was Obama going to fight for health care? When was he going to dedicate the appropriate time to clearly define what he was for and why to the party and our nation (not what he could live with!).

When will it make any difference that we have the leadership of EVERY senate committee and even the senate itself? Same thing in the House! Oh? We have all three branches of government but they always manage to lack just ONE vote to do the right thing. Are these politicians or what?

We wasted the entire summer, fall, much of the winter to produce a bill that looks like a wildebeest. (It was written by the lobbyists of every affected health care sector so it has mixed parentage) It runs funny, it is lovable, but only to its many mothers and it is destined to a be savaged by everything with at least one tooth on the savanna.

Oh...and please don't blame anyone and, of course, fight on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is the right thing to do if you want to sleep walk into the next election. This didn't happen at all like you thought it did!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
