This is a quick diary to get out this news..
In a Fox News interview(yes, I know.. but this is already being reported on radio stations here in the Chicago area) David Axelrod
said the White House doesn't want any Senate action on health care until Brown is seated.
"I think it would be inappropriate," Axelrod said. "I think the people of Massachusetts would consider it inappropriate, and that's something we won't do."
Asked again if he was sure Congress would pass health care, Axelrod hesitated.
"I believe there is going to be a will to move forward," Axelrod said. "The benefits of doing it are much greater than the peril of not moving forward at this point."
Asked a third time if Obama would push just as hard for health care, Axelrod said the White House remains concerned about the issue, but deferred to forces beyond its control.
"Premiums keep going up, out of pocket costs keep going up and that's not a fight we want to walk away from, " Axelrod said. "But one way or the other, we're coming to the culmination of that and obviously there are other priorities that need full attention. I think it depends. There are a lot of approaches being discussed. That's something (that) is going to be not just our decision, but the decision of others on how to proceed."
This is pretty much opposite of what was coming out of the White House earlier today. Does this signal a struggle in the WH on how to deal with this?
