James Inhofe is 100% correct. We need "racial and ethnic profiling." We need to look for people who look like terrorists. Not like his wife.

Alert: Female Suicide Bombers May Be Heading Here from Yemen
U.S. Agents Told Women Believed Connected to al Qaeda, May Have Western Appearance and Passports

American law enforcement officials have been told to be on the lookout for female suicide bombers who may attempt to enter the United States, law enforcement authorities tell ABC News.

One official said at least two of them are believed to be connected to al Qaeda in Yemen, and may have a non-Arab appearance and be traveling on Western passports.

Probably the smartest thing about profiling is that it means we get to tell terrorists exactly who we are looking for and what they should look like if they want to get caught. That's really smart, because otherwise they might try to find someone who could slip through the cracks of our security system. Maybe by looking like they could be James Inhofe's wife.

Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

This was before the shoe bomber or the recent "stroll in and smile" incident with the Obama WH gate crashers.

Yet how are our "tough on terrorist" leaders going to keep us safe? By implying that no one can be a terrorist unless they're brown-skinned, black-haired and have an Arab name...which makes it easier for anyone who doesn't fit that profile to walk right into the U.S.

When there is a mass shooting at work, it is usually done by White Guys, either they got laid off or threaten to be fired, they lose benefits in dispute with the company. So I propose this, since it is Ok to profile Arabs or Muslims as Sen Inhofe says, then I propose that all White Male Gunowners, who either lost their jobs or in danger of losing their jobs, plus those who lose disputes with companies need to be put on watch, just in case  they lose their shit and go on a rampage.  Fair is fair, Sen Inhofe.

    The Street Light

In this version of an old story, crossposted from the blog linked above, substitute "government official" for "economist" and "terrorist" for "lost keys."

Late one evening, a man who was walking his dog comes upon an economist (you can always tell an economist from anyone else at first glance, of course) who is searching the ground under a street light. The passerby asks the economist what he is doing.

"I'm looking for my lost keys," says the man searching the ground. "I dropped them on my way home from that bar down there" he says with a slight slur, pointing to an establishment of somewhat disreputable appearance at the far end of the street.

The passerby offers to help search for the keys, but after several minutes of searching under the street light they have no luck. "Are you sure you dropped them here?" asks the passerby.

"Oh, I have no idea if I dropped them here," says the economist, now swaying ever so slightly. "All I know is that I think I’m pretty sure that I dropped them somewhere on this street on my way home."

"Then why are you only looking under this street light?"

"Well..." replies the economist very slowly, blinking with the effort. "Because this is where I can see the best."
