This morning bloomed with a glimpse of sun which we haven’t seen much over the past week. Rain storm after rain storm have been rolling through northern California without much of a break in between. Our brief glimpse of the sun this morning is but a hiatus however, and more storms are to yet to come. It is not unlike the health care reform process...that keeps evolving and drenching us with rain and gloom.
So...as I settled down to my morning cup of coffee to watch the birds in the pine tree off the deck and slowly wake up with my newspaper....the first thing I saw sent me scuttling to Daily Kos to report.
The front page story in our local Marin Independent Journal proclaimed:
Woolsey calls Senate health bill too flawed
She then went on to say that:
The House bill was compromise enough for the people I represent.
and that she could not vote for it without substantial changes.
Well, Woolsey is my representative and despite her recent aberration to go and help sponsor a fund raiser for quasi Democrat, Jane Harmon, she usually speaks for me and is on the side I think of as correct for the people. She is considered to be a progressive. I have decided that she still speaks for me with this decision.
I have gone through a multitude of emotions and stances as I have watched health care bills morph into odd deformed lumps that are less than recognizable as health care reform. I have heard the pleas of: "pass this poor deformed thing and then we can heal it later" and "this is our last chance" and I have been swayed to think like that from time to time. But then I hear Woolsey and I think: She is right...
