I've a friend, who was just, friday, diagnosed with a brain tumor. He's 58, self employed and facing bankruptcy and then death, though I'm not sure he's focused enough to be facing anything yet. So, one of the things his friends are doing is pulling together in various ways to try and assist him. One is being the focus point for direct support as he lives right next to him, one is being the focus point for treatment research, and my job is to try and find funding methods for him. Being a member of this community, I thought others might help, and possibly be helped by a thread about this subject.
the biopsy is due tomorrow, but the doctor reports that the extant of the tumor suggests a 1% survival chance. this is even lower then the normal 3% norm for Glioblastoma multiforme. His hospital has decided to treat him and bill at least for now, which sure beats being told to pay up front. His wife is trying to keep the business going, though she can only keep the inventory moving out, not make new. He has no medical insurance, nor life insurance, with major assets being his business inventories, and his home. (neither free of debt of course) All his adult life, he's been a jeweler.
So, what I've been trying to look into, includes the option of divorce, with his wife getting the assets, and he getting the debt. (isn't that what most men claim divorce results in anyway?) and bankruptcy protections
any other suggests will be greatly appreciated...
