There sure seems to be a whole lotta angst out there in the liberal blog-o-sphere. Heck, beyond the intertubes, there is a whole lotta angst out there. Did you think this was going to be easy? Did you think your work was done?
Ages ago, I used to work for this small semi-conductor manufacturer in Santa Clara that had a very dynamic CEO. He used to be on the cover of magazines and wrote books about paranoia and survival. He was a champion of change. Complacency was not an option. Change was so important to this particular chip maker that the company routinely spent billions of dollars ripping apart "old" fabrication plants and replacing them with new ones to keep pressing forward. To ensure the competitive advantage. To make sure they always were the best.
But change was hard. It was so hard, we had to go to classes to understand our instinctual human reaction against it. But if you didn’t adapt, you were let go. The strategy was wildly successful. To this day, the company succeeds in capitalizing new ideas where others fail.
I admit, current events seem to be conspiring against us (us=change agents). But that’s because status-quo is intractably resistant to change. During these hard times, it’s easy to find fault in this person or that, in the handling of a particular event that Monday morning quarterbacking analysis would recommend a different course of action. I submit that this will continue. Buck up and get used to it. When you win elections, you’re on top of the pile waiting to be bumped off. You are the leader. You need to act like a leader.
Republican tactics can be used against them. Democratic policies are better for the country. You know it. I know it. But our message is being hijacked by corporate interests intent on maintaining the status quo and a legitimate 3rd Party that is gaining traction because there is no loud and forceful counterargument.
Virtual friends of mine on Daily Kos: Step forward once again. This is not the time to hang your head. This is EXACTLY the time to support our chosen leaders...the guys and gals that we put into office. They need our help.
Yesterday I signed up for Netroots Nation ’10 in Vegas. Today I contributed to the DNC. I took a year off because I was exhausted from the canvassing, the phone calls, the hosting of fund raising parties, etc, etc, etc. But this is an election year. I know Democrats like to whine, but I like to win. It’s more fun. Don't you agree? We know our guy is better than their guy. We know it. Now help me do something about it.
