Help.
Won't somebody stop us from Helping. Too. MUCH?!?
This was the response from the Republican Party to the State Of The Union address last night.
Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell used traditional pillars of his party to attack the Obama administration in his Republican response to the State of the Union Wednesday night.
Evoking Thomas Jefferson he said, "a wise and frugal government which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry ....and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned."
"He was right," McDonnell explained, "today, the federal government is simply trying to do too much."
More about the bread we've earned, and doing too much, below the fold...
OK: first of all, who's earning for America?
Consistently, Democratic Presidents have been in power when our (beloved by the [f]right[ened] wing) Free Markets have propeled this nation into being the greatest in the world. They're the ones setting the tone and agenda. They're the ones that don't kowtow to ideas that almost ruined us eighty years ago.
Yeah. Free regulation of industry without oversight from anyone but those free men. Tell me, WalMart shoppers, how's that cadmium in kids' jewelry working out for you? How about scrapping Big Government so NOTHING gets tested? How about letting the companies (that thought buying this crap without adequate GOVERNMENT to regulate the pursuit of industry, because THEY FAILED) dictate the political discourse from now on too?
Secondly: we're doing too much? Really?
Oh, that sounds thoroughly TERRIBLE. I tell you, I'm certainly glad that the next person in America that needs emergency medical treatment after a car accident won't be seeing Virginia Governor Bob "Sit On My Hands" McDonnell as a first responder.
Not too MUCH help to stem the bleeding. And don't stem the bleeding AND stop the imflammation. No, I don't want us to try and do TOO MUCH for this man...
What a bunch of wimps. Now let's fix this country.
Who's with me? No, not you, Bob. You just sit on those worthless hands of yours.
